2008 Annual Spring Summit
Well the 2008 Summit is history. A smaller than normal group was present. We had to say goodbye to long time RAT Mack "the Elder" Hooper, aka "Yeller Dog" who passed away March 5, 2008. He will be missed and as a salute to his memory, we decided to let the the time capsule remain in the ground until 2009. Other members of our faithful group had various obligations that could not be changed. Nine members showed up. Tom "Catfish the Younger" Hooper was Campmaster, Tim "Killer" Hooper, Tracy "WooWoo" Hooper, Micah "Seed Man", were named as Board Members, and Jim "Bass Assassin" Largent was Sergeant at Arms. Torey "WoJo" Hooper, John "Formerly Cappy" Largent, Trey "Tongue Boy" Hooper, and rookie Paul "John Candy" Stiverson made up the complement. Everyone seemed to enjoy the fellowship. Only WooWoo wet a hook and no boat was put in the water. Our thanks to Stephen "El Capitan" Shepherd for obtaining the caps even though he was not able to make the trip.
On Friday night, we had a round robin 42 tournament with the father son team of Catfish the Younger and Tongue Boy taking the championship in a very hard fought battle. Each of the three teams had one loss and all matches went down to the wire. The champions actual won a semifinal game with a two mark bid trailing 6-5. A very challenging tournament indeed. I just hope that next year can have the same spirited competition.
We ate our usual chicken fried steak at Elijah's along with other things. We did not however bring a pit and cook anything on site. I guess we are getting old and lazy.
